CoBRA, a recommendation for the citation of bioresources
The international ’Bioresource Research Impact Factor’ (BRIF) initiative published a recommendation in 2015 concerning the standardized citation of bioresources (scientifically documented collections of data and/or samples: tissues, blood, cells, ADN, biomolecular and biocomputing tools, etc.) in research articles. The CoBRA recommendation, indexed by the EQUATOR network, enables its users to differentiate between a bioresource which contributed to a result in an article and a bioresource which is just cited in an article. This initiative is a logical part of the current context of sharing research samples and data and could be applied to all types of scientific collections (vegetal, geological, in museums, etc.).
